Onboarding Process

First Conversation

Please feel free to call, text or email me. If you have a timeline, summary, legal filing, or medical records, I am happy to look at those before or during our initial conversation. A complete review however is needed before opinions regarding causality, standard of care, or damages can be rendered. It is my obligation to be fully versed on the medical facts and science undergirding each case I undertake. My fee schedule and resume are available upon request.

Experience Matters

I am a surgical and medical ophthalmologist whose experience includes over 10,000 procedures in the subspecialities of cataract, oculoplastic surgery, pterygium, glaucoma, laser floater removal and retina. I have served as an expert in all different spheres of ophthalmology from surgical complications to delay in diagnosis and treatment. Someone who loses vision from neglect or medical error can receive monetary compensation, but the vision loss is permanent.

Work with Legal Team

I will discuss all aspects of the case with your legal team, giving technical expertise vis a vis the medical underpinnings of the potential deviations. A theory of the case is developed. Often when a bad result occurs, an opportunity to salvage the situation was missed and damage to the eye occurs.

Positing various scenarios may entail extrapolating beyond what is recorded in the record. In several cases that I have served as an expert, my review of nursing notes, billing records and PACU charting resulted in a more complete understanding of the medical facts. Recently this has included uncovering edits of electronic medical records entries.

My journey

As a solo ophthalmologist working in an urban setting, I diagnosed and treated a wide spectrum of eye diseases including glaucoma, cornea, retina, oculoplastics, strabismus, pterygium, and cataract. Known as the “Eyecon” of Chicago ophthalmology, longevity in practice has exposed me to cases that one may see only once or twice in a career. This has sharpened my acumen for assessing unusual, urgent, and emergent situations.

My journey has been rewarding. I have combined my passion for medicine and critical analysis with my writing and oral presentation skills. Truth can be elusive and our system of justice is imperfect: yet, I am grateful for the small role I can play.
